Qualified Psychologist, Jeanne Currie heads up operations at New Growth Psychology.

Offering an integrated approach to therapy, Jeanne is passionate in her endeavor to provide children, adolescents, young adults and parents  the professional support and foundation needed to encourage healing and growth.

 

Experience in Psychological Support

Jeanne started her journey toward becoming an Educational Psychologist in South Africa at the University of Johannesburg.

She continued her studies internationally where she graduated from Massey University in New Zealand in 2017 as an Educational Psychologist.

She has extensive experience with children, adolescents and young adults and is well-versed in conducting professional academic and psychological evaluations.

Jeanne began her career as a school teacher in both South Africa and England and has since accumulated over ten years’ experience within the realm of child and adolescent counselling and psychology.

Her experience includes work for the Ministry of Education in New Zealand, working collaboratively with her young clients’ family, school team and other professionals to assess, develop and implement / review individual support plans.

At St John of God Waipuna, Jeanne dedicated time within the field of youth mental health including;

 

  • low mood,
  • anxiety,
  • eating difficulties ,
  • body image and
  • substance use

 

Jeanne continues to work with young people alongside their families within the rural and remote communities in Australia.

 

An Integrated Approach

Jeanne uses an integrated approach in her work with young people, some modalities include:

  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy,
  • Solutions Focused Therapy,
  • Narrative Therapy,
  • Mindfulness Therapy
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

​In addition to this she has also successfully facilitated a variety of therapeutic group work with young people and adults.

Psychological theories and models of therapy from various therapeutic approaches allows us to assist with support plans that are best suited to each individual’s particular difficulties.
